How it works
Two ways to scout
Group scouting: your whole team shares one scouting list. The first person to register your team becomes its captain and gets the team's link by email. Teammates join with an invite the captain makes under Manage → Invite, and each gets their own link. The scouting is kept on our server for your team only.
Self scouting: just you. Pick the event and your team; email is optional. Everything you scout stays on your phone and is never sent to us. Erase it any time with Clear my scouting. (Group scouting entries are stored on our server for your team only and deleted 48 hours after the event; see Privacy & terms.)
What the numbers mean
- OPR
- Offensive Power Rating: about how many points a team adds to its alliance's score in a match. Worked out from every match played at the event (each alliance's score is the sum of its teams' OPRs).
- Auto / Tele
- The same, split into the autonomous period and tele-op (driver-controlled, including the end game). Auto + Tele = OPR.
- Carry %
- A team's average share of its alliance's points. About 50% means it does half the work; higher means it carries its partners; lower means its partners carry it.
- RP
- Ranking points, which decide the qualification rankings: 3 for a win, 1 for a tie, plus bonus RPs the game awards. Shown as an average per match.
- Avg match
- The team's alliances' average score before fouls (a tie-breaker in the rankings).
- Rank
- Position in the qualification rankings, ordered like the official page.
- Win chance
- How likely an alliance is to win an upcoming match, from both alliances' ratings.
- Predicted score
- The score each alliance is expected to get (shown with ~).
- Qualify
- The chance a team finishes in the playoff spots, from simulating the rest of the qualification matches many times.
- Likely finish
- The range of final ranks the team usually ends up in across those simulations.
- Δ (in Preview)
- The difference between red and blue (red minus blue).
- Earlier events / Last season
- A team's OPR at its other events this season, and last season's events and awards. Shown for background; predictions use only this season's results.
All of these are estimates: always check the official results and rankings.
Pick the event and team
Start typing the event's name, city or code and pick it from the list (only 2026 events that haven't ended). Then type your team number or name. If the event hasn't published its team list yet, just type the number.
Keep your link to yourself
In group scouting your link is yours: ask the captain for an invite instead of sharing it. Only the captain can invite or remove people (under Manage; removing someone stops their link at once). Anyone can get a new link for themselves. If your link got out, tap New link for me. Captain lost the link? From the captain's own email address, send an email with "lost", your team number and event code to infinitytechrobotics@gmail.com (the start page and the "link not found" page have it ready to copy). A new link comes back within a couple of minutes and the old one stops working.
Using the team page
Matches: your matches first, results and predictions; tap Preview on an upcoming match. Teams: standings and OPR; tap a team for details and Research. Scout: the match sheet. Chat: ask "preview Q12", "research 1234", "scouting summary", "next match" or "time"; answers are worked out on your phone, no internet needed once the event is saved. Manage (group scouting): invites, members and your link.
Add the page to your Home Screen: it opens and works with no signal, and catches up when you're back online. The icon always opens the newest link on that phone, so it keeps working after New link for me.
When the event ends
Registration closes when the event ends. Group scouting pages stay open for 48 more hours, then the page and everything saved for the event (the registration, emails and your team's scouting) are deleted. Self scouting stays on your phone until you clear it.
What we count
To decide what to build next we count, anonymously, how many teams and phones use the app each day, and how many phones have it on their Home Screen. No names, emails or locations are part of those counts.
What's in it
Scout: a match sheet for each robot, saved on the phone and kept private to your team. Predict: a predicted score and win chance for every match, plus each team's chance to make playoffs. Both are ready to use now.
Coming next: Score, showing how the predictions did once matches are played.
Predictions only
Win chances and predicted scores are estimates. We take no responsibility for them: always check the official results and rankings on ftc-events.firstinspires.org. See Privacy & terms.
